Job Summary:

The Senior UI/UX Designer applies industry tools, technologies, and best practices to design user experiences for web and mobile applications and/or user device screens. This requires a creative designer and strategic thinker who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced, agile environment. This role participates in both the research and design of products, requiring strong visual, communication, and collaboration skills. This role is expected to contribute to UX leadership within Cubic. This position typically works under limited supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority. This position will be part of the Intelligent Transportation Solutions (ITS) Trafficware design team. More information about ITS can be found at www.trafficware.com.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs User Research to understand user needs. Integrates best practices, data, and user research to inform and validate your design.
  • Collaborates with and advocates for the user.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams for the discovery and defining cycle regarding design requirements.
  • Translates product requirements and user research insights into intuitive, user-centered designs for web and/or mobile applications and device screens.
  • Effectively communicates and presents complex design decisions through wireframes, user flows, and interactive prototypes with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understands and explains design strategy to various stakeholders, including current and potential customers.
  • Works in both low and high fidelity, utilizing design systems.
  • Maintains product user interface look & feel consistently across multiple platforms within a project and across projects
  • Incorporates iterative feedback from internal and external customers to optimize designs.
  • Communicates design progress between teams and stakeholders.
  • May collaborate in the writing of supporting documentation.
  • Designs with consideration of business objectives, and technical, time, and budget constraints for products and projects
  • Mentors other team members on UI/UX design best practices.
  • Leads and contributes to design peer reviews and provides critical feedback to peers on their designs.
  • Monitors and maintains knowledge of wider industry UI/UX trends and relevant technology trends.
  • Participates in process improvements in order to optimize internal processes to make research, design, and project and product management more efficient.
  • Participate in the Bids & Proposals phase of the project(s) or program(s).
  • Provide UI/UX design estimates to product management and project management considering UI/UX scope and complexity per customer requirements

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Visual Communication, Human-Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, or related field. Six (6) + years of professional UI/UX design experience.
  • A web-accessible portfolio that includes design samples that effectively communicate your process, including project insights and solutions required.
  • Must have an eye for visual design excellence, attention to detail, and experience applying user-centered design principles.
  • Must be a self-starter and self-driven.
  • Experience using Figma, Zeplin, Sketch, InVision, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools.
  • Experience designing responsive web and mobile apps.
  • Experience using HTML and CSS for web design is a plus.
  • Data visualization experience is a plus.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and be able to determine priorities based on business strategy and schedule needs.
  • Potential travel is required.

Additional Information

(Colorado only*) Minimum full-time salary range between $107,576 - $125,794 + benefits.

*Note: Disclosure as required by sb19-085 (8-5-20) of the minimum salary compensation range for this role when being hired to work from Colorado.

(New York City only**) Minimum full-time salary range between $138,932 - $162,460 + benefits.

**Note: Disclosure as required by the New York City Human Rights Law.

(California only***) Minimum full-time [salary/hourly] range between $125,939 - $159,018 + benefits.

***Note: Disclosure of the pay scale data as required by Labor Code Section 432.3.

(Washington only****) Minimum full-time [salary/hourly] range between $122,248 - $142,951 + benefits outlined above.
