As a Senior VAT Expert at Flowserve, you will become part of our VAT team located in our Budapest office where our Business Service Center (BSC) is also located with approximately 200 colleagues. Your role will be primarily VAT compliance focused in our VAT team which is technology oriented and supports various projects in addition to our VAT compliance activity across EMA. 

Responsibilities & Requirements:

• Review of VAT returns, EC Sales List, reconciliations prepared by the VAT team and preparation of such deliverables.
• Assist the EMA VAT manager with the oversight and control over the VAT team’s compliance activities, continuously improve VAT processes, the relating policies and documentation in EMA. 
• Support the VAT compliance transition/migration from local sites to the VAT team and the expansion of our team.
• Communicate with (regional) controllers and local businesses about VAT queries, developments.
• Mentoring and supervising our team members to ensure their continuous professional improvement.
• Support the implementation of tax technology tools (with high focus on VAT compliance tools), ERP implementations (especially SAP S4) and the change management of such tools and ERPs (various ERPs, including Oracle and SAP versions).
• Work closely with various Flowserve teams to support the execution of projects from a VAT perspective.
• Assist the EMA VAT manager with inhouse VAT advisory activities (e.g. contract review, investigating and analyzing transactional background information for VAT treatment assessment, keeping contact with external advisors).

Preferred Experience and skills:

• You have a college/university degree in finance/accounting
• You have 5+ years of relevant experience at a BSC or at a consulting firm (Big4 or other large accounting firms)
• You have experience with ERPs and preferably with tax technology tools
• You are fluent in English both in writing and verbally, German language skills are a plus
• You have a strong ability to gather, organize and analyze data
• You have good troubleshooting skills
• You are accurate and highly organized with a focus on details
• You have a continuous improvement mindset, able to flexibly cope with process changes
• You are an excellent team player
