We are seeking a Senior Vice President within the Risk Management organization that will manage collections strategy and operational oversight. The role will drive strategies for our different powersports portfolios and ensure readiness for new verticals that Octane may enter moving forward. A strong knowledge of debt collection for secured loans is needed for this role. The Head of Collections Operations will have a dotted line report into this role as well as up through the Operations organization.
Responsibilities
- Ability to manage cutting-edge tools and models that enable improvements in both efficiency and effectiveness of collections operations
- Oversee collections operations, ensuring appropriate metrics are in place that are met or exceeded on a regular basis
- Own portfolio loss forecasting for both shorter-term periods (ie:Â upcoming month / quarter) as well as longer-range periods (ie:Â upcoming calendar year and longer-term strategic forecasts)
- Expand the digital collections strategies, identifying opportunities for both early and late stage collections, as well as post-charge off recoveries
- Enhance our collections strategies pertaining to time, frequency, method and channel of customer contact, working with the operations teams to determine the appropriate way to implement
- Ensure that the platforms and data which drive collections success are appropriate for Octane’s growth strategy. Provide strategic direction on what the destination model looks like in these areas
- Anticipate and implement controls to ensure a variety of non-financial risks (operational, compliance, regulatory, customer complaints) are proactively managed
- Provide both strategic direction and independent challenge, where needed, to collections operational leaders
- Provide recommendations for underwriting enhancements, based on trends and observations in the collections queues
- Support and oversee operational vendor relationships
- Build and implement successful pre-delinquent strategies, targeting at-risk customers that haven’t yet become past-due
- Anticipate and manage external risks emerging from developments such as customer affordability challenges, resumption of student loan payments, etc.
- Build and manage a set of metrics that measure Octane’s performance vs. industry peers
Requirements
- Minimum 15+ years of Collections Risk Management and Servicing Operations roles, managing and/or overseeing lending portfolios
- Strong knowledge of collections operations, preferably related to secured loan portfolios
- Proven analytical abilities, with experience improving operational performance
- Knowledge of auto lending a strong plus
- Experience operating in a matrix organization whereby influence of adjacent departments was a critical driver of success
- Knowledge of the laws and regulations that govern secured debt collection
- Strong influential, collaboration and presentation skills
