The Head of Corporate Development will report directly to the COO. The primary focus of this role is to lead the corporate development team in the development of long-range strategic plans and objectives through the identification of inorganic opportunities that could influence business growth and profitability. ย The duties of the Head of Corporate Development are inclusive of competitor benchmarking, industry intelligence, consumer knowledge, and development of strategic initiatives. The senior executive will also have the primary responsibility for managing and coordinating all M&A activity
Responsibilities:ย
- Work closely with the CEO, COO and executive team to develop strategies around and identify acquisition opportunities that accelerate the business and increase market share
- Lead the end-to-end deal M&A process from strategy development and business case modeling to deal negotiation and due diligence to cross-functional integration
- Drive the overall corp dev deal pipeline, including outreach to and sourcing of new opportunities
- Manage financial due diligence work with the executive team during deal structuring and negotiations; interact with lenders as required
- Build analytical models and perform regular competitive, performance, and market analyses to develop and implement acquisition roadmap
- Draft regular analysis reports for senior strategy management, business leadership and executives, and relevant stakeholders for purposes of further decision making
- Develop domain knowledge and expertise to go deep on understanding product roadmap and use this insight to see emerging opportunities for growth
- Establish and maintain relationships with executives from entrepreneurs, venture investors, bankers and leading fintech companies to inform strategy and stay up-to-date on the competitive landscape and market trends
- Develop in depth investment memorandums and present to senior management regarding rationale of transactions
- Work closely with the executive management team to assist in the development of presentation materials for Board of Directors
- Manage junior team members to move multiple projects ahead simultaneously
- Strong partner to COO and executive team in driving the overall strategy, building M&A pipeline and executing transactions
- Highly strategic and motivated leader who is comfortable dealing with ambiguity and working with global cross functional teams
- Self-motivated and eager to learn, insight and experience within the private markets a plus
- Strong communicator, able to convey complex ideas in a clear, concise manner both verbally and in writing; comfort in both business and technical discussions
- 10+ years of experience in corporate finance roles including but not limited to Corporate Development, Private Equity, Venture Capital and/or Investment Banking
- Strong analytical skills, fluency in performing rigorous financial, valuation, and broad quantitative analyses and familiarity with accounting & key operational metrics
- Technical ability to recognize areas of product integration, discuss product roadmaps, and engage with product and technology managers
- Experience managing and working with third-party advisors, including financial advisors, law firms, accounting firms and other consultants and advisors
- Drive projects and resolution of issues on time and getting executive agreement and support
- Ability to influence and communicate effectively across all levels across the organization
- Team player, proactive and action oriented, anticipates needs, is assertive, and is highly accountable
- Proven experience in developing relationships, building presence and earning/commanding respect with C-level executives
- Strong command of the M&A processes, including strategic evaluation, negotiation, structuring, due diligence and execution
- Demonstrated ability to foster a collaborative and partnership-based approach to achieve company objectives
- Global understanding of business and industry trends, markets, products, technology, customers and competitors
- Must be able to sit and/or stand in an office or remote setting for long periods of time while working
