Job Description

As the Senior Vice President of Merchandising, you will be responsible for co-leading the Product vision of Canada Goose as a Performance Luxury Lifestyle Brand. You will take the lead in the champion development and execution for the 3-5 year merchandising long-term plan. You will drive Canada Goose's newly established Collection Strategy and vision while developing and leading a world class Product Merchandising Team. 

About the Role:

  • Lead a disruptive and brand elevating Product Vision that continues to elevate and push the Canada Goose Lifestyle forward while respecting our DNA
  • Drive strategic and business planning process specific to the Merchandising Function; be the first line of action towards achievement of the LRP and Corporate Priorities. Incorporate financial objectives into merchandise plans to achieve fiscal revenue targets and lead the Product Team towards completion of objectives
  • Engage directly with Executive Team and leaders from multiple departments (Marketing, Strategy, Commercial, and Planning) to drive Collection and product category direction
  • Engage cross-functionally; be the voice of Product across the business to ensure future looking Product Strategies and Merchandising direction are executed through the business, to the consumer, with excellence
  • Establish and bring Collection and Category Strategies through the ET at key PCM moments and corporate milestones to ensure cross-functional alignment and drive implementation of next steps / key activities
  • Lead the creation of Tiered Assortments that creates market segmentations and allows for differentiated distribution opportunities
  • Operate as the financial lead for Merchandising; This includes key financial metrics, achievement of financial parameters, and leading the business to make profitable merchandise decisions
  • Drive the development of our global supply chain to meet product and financial metrics; ensure Collection and Category strategies are produced in accordance with the internal metrics through a close partnership with Production/Sourcing
  • Develop a compelling global product offering in service of creating a Performance Luxury Lifestyle brand; including a long-range product roadmap based on analysis of both the CG and competitor marketplace with consideration of global and local requirements, while achieving financial targets and brand expectations
  • Maintain a deep understanding of overall business performance, product/style, accounts, regions - identify challenges and opportunities based on sales results and competitive landscape
  • Partner with Head of Planning to set Collection/Category forecasts and manage Product Lifecycle to ensure Corporate and Financial Priorities are achieved while being disciplined with style Productivity
  • Drive Consumer Centricity Bring customer and market perspective to the design and product development process. Thoroughly understands the different brand's target customer by tracking attitude and lifestyle trends. Ability to apply trend forecast and influence product POV during development process using both market information and Brand Filters
  • Support the Creative Process; Work with Creative Teams to identify seasonal brand messaging, product key items, and key looks
  • Innovation; Recommend and implement technology to support ongoing improvement in process and efficiency based on the demands and growth of the business.
  • Sustainability; Actively source Sustainable solutions to Collections/Categories that drive the brand forward towards CSR commitments while achieving profitability targets
  • Drive Brand Heat; Validate, network, build relationships and source world class tastemakers/creative leaders to participate in Collaborations & Special Projects at Canada Goose
  • Finger on the pulse of competitor trends, exploration of the retail market to provide tangible learning outputs and improvement of product strategy and assortment
  • Lead the Merchandising team and set team and individual performance goals that support the Fiscal Priorities
  • Lead the Market Merchant Roles through a dotted line report structure to ensure central Merchandising support the Regions Product needs while maintaining top line Corporate Priorities
  • Lead development of competitor consumer insights to identify pricing/product opportunities and consumer elasticity
  • Coach staff, Hire, coach and develop a quality team including, development planning, succession planning and regular performance reviews to address personal growth and development needed to foster a productive, focused team.
  • Travel will be required in this role

  • Demonstrate entrepreneurial passion, educate direct reports, as well as cross- functional partners when discussing new concepts, ideations, and fundamental processes
  • Be a leader within the Product Team, champion Diversity & Inclusion across the organization to build a safe and welcoming environment
  • Respectful in approach, focused on fostering a collaborative cross-functional organization
  • Industry knowledge – Global understanding of future markets and competitive brand positioning within the Luxury and Apparel space
  • External Voice – Able to speak to the Canada Goose brand with external key opinion leaders
  • Project manager – can manage large projects spanning multiple departments/stakeholders and set priorities


Base Salary: $325,000 - $400,000 USD
