About the Role:
TreeHouse Foods is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sensory Manager to join our team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and sensory attributes of our food products meet the highest standards. You'll be responsible for leading sensory evaluations, implementing programs, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, and excellence in our product portfolio.
You'll add value to this role by performing various functions including, but not limited to:
- Design and implement sensory tests, including discrimination, descriptive, and consumer studies, using appropriate methodologies and statistical analyses for TreeHouse Foods' diverse product range, including, beverages, snacks, baked goods and more.
- Collaborate closely with Business Unit lead(s), R&D, and Value Engineering teams to align sensory objectives with product development strategies and quality standards.
- Utilize statistical tools and software to analyze sensory data, interpret results, and provide actionable insights and reports to support product innovation, improvement, and quality control initiatives.
- Stay informed of industry trends, consumer preferences, and technological advancements in sensory science to drive continuous improvement and maintain competitive advantage.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to sensory evaluation in the food industry.
- Responsible for adhering and maintaining to defined sensory budget and updating sensory project tracker.
- Responsible for maintaining sensory SharePoint site with sensory reports and data analyses.
- Collaborate with outside sensory agencies on project specific requests.
Important Details: Most of the time will be in Oakbrook, IL, but depending on sensory projects, visits to the Innovation Center located in Downers Grove, IL may be required. The duties and responsibilities described are not a comprehensive list of all tasks. Additional tasks and duties may be assigned from time to time as necessitated by business needs.
About You:
You'll fit right in if you have:
- Minimum 15 years' experience in Sensory Science within the food industry, demonstrating a strong grasp of sensory methodologies, experimental design, and statistical analysis.
- Proven track record in managing sensory programs, leading sensory panels, and conducting a variety of sensory tests.
- Proficiency in sensory evaluation software (e.g., RedJade, Compusense, EyeQuestion) and statistical analysis tools (JMP).
- Proficiency in statistical software tools (e.g., R, JMP, SAS, Minitab) for experimental design and analysis.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and draw actionable conclusions.
- Experience with implementing and/or supporting successful D.O.E projects resulting in product enhancements.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively interact with cross-functional teams and present findings and recommendations.
- Passion for food and a keen interest in understanding consumer preferences, market trends, and innovation opportunities in Food/CPG industry.
- Computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, SAP
- Bachelor's Degree Required: Food Science or related field, Master's Degree Preferred: Food Science, MBA or related field
