ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Sensory Technologist will report to the Product & Sensory Research Director with mentorship by a Sr. Sensory Associate. With the guidance of the Sr. Associate, the Sensory Technologist will gain valuable hands-on experience in the management and conduct of trained and untrained sensory panels and the execution of consumer research studies. The Technologist will be responsible for the management of all products to be evaluated in sensory tests (including inventory and product preparation), select administrative duties, and aid more senior scientists in the daily running of sensory tests, data analysis and reporting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain a proper inventory of all products to be evaluated by panelists
• Accurately prepare, label, store and destroy products included in sensory testing
• Work with cross-functional stakeholders to acquire products for testing
• Procurement of competitive products as needed
• Responsible for daily panelist interaction to include greeting panelists, sample distribution and collection
• Program surveys, samples, and trial schematics into automatic data collection software in advance of panel conduct
• Assist in daily panel execution to include panelist interactions & engagement, sample distribution & collection
• Create and maintain proper documentation of company records
  

IMPORTANT: The use of vapor or tobacco products is not a requirement of this position. However, in this role you may be exposed at times to side-stream vapor or smoke.

PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Some laboratory experience is required (good documentation, working with chemicals, pipettes, sample management, etc.)
• Demonstrate high attention to detail, hands-on mindset, effective time management, pro-active disposition and flexibility
• Good communication skills
• Preferred candidate will have some sensory experience

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor's Degree in any scientific field
• Preferred focus in Food Science or equivalent with either a major in sensory science, behavioral psychology or applied statistics
