Salary Range: $18.00 hr - $23.00 hr

Our Service Writer is responsible for the following:

1. Know the status of every job in your shop and ensure the customer and the store manager know the status of the repair before they contact you for an update.
2. Answer most of the calls to the Service Department and field customer inquiries.
3. Create purchase orders as required including contacting necessary vendors to obtain equipment.
4. Monitor and follow up on parts shortage and expedite ordering as required by the Parts Supervisor
5. May process warranty and/or product improvement claims including the computation of charges, submission, and follow-up when required.
6. Maintain Service Technician timecard tracking daily in the JD Equip system.
7. Advise the Service Supervisor and/or Store Manager of all customer complaints.
8. Update customer profiles using equipment, hours, or other information from the customer work orders.
9. Maintain Service Department filing and records.
10. Never operate any equipment you are not properly trained on and have not inspected before use, for example, but not limited to vehicles, tractors, forklifts, mowers, drill presses, grinder, hydraulic presses, welders, and other general equipment.
11. Other duties as assigned.

Experience, Education, Skills, and Knowledge:

• A minimum high school diploma plus 2 years of related experience.
• Ability to use the John Deere Parts Catalog computer applications.
• Working knowledge of parts, machinery, and a basic understanding of inventory management principles
• Ability to work in a team environment and strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift items weighing upwards of 50 lbs.
• Bilingual is a plus that is relevant to the customer base served.
