ServiceNow Principal Platform Architect
Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION
The ServiceNow Principal Platform Architect is responsible for the overall technical architecture, roadmap delivery and operation of the ServiceNow ecosystem at UL Solutions and the platform team reporting directly to the ServiceNow Platform Owner.
The Principal Platform Architect will provide and maintain architectural design, integrity and related documentation with input from stakeholders while overseeing the day to day operation of the platform team while ensuring adequate resource allocation to meet demand.
Specific duties of the ServiceNow Principal Platform Architect include:
- Oversee all technical aspects of the ServiceNow platform
- Be the architectural design authority for ServiceNow in collaboration with the Enterprise Architecture organization and the Platform Innovation Architect
- Create technical delivery plans that support the UL Solution business and platform vision and strategy
- Own all technical design, architecture governance and operations decisions for the platform
- Communicate designs and platform principles to architecture peers and stakeholders and approved implementing teams and programs
- Consult to teams and customers interacting with architectural designs during the development lifecycle
- Communicate and collaborate within the platform team and across the organization by driving alignment to the business, IT and platform strategies and imperatives
- Oversee the demand management process
- Ensure proper application licensing
- Comply with all UL controls, audits and platform guidance
- Comply with all UL policies and standards of operation
Additional duties:
- Perform technical proof of concept activities where appropriate.
- Ensure entire platform (including sub-instances) is available, stable, fully patched and secure at all times in accordance with ServiceNow guidance
- Perform two platform upgrades per year with minimal disruption
- Develop, document, establish and maintain platform best practices and lead and mentor the platform team
- Provide 3rd tier support and/or expertise for the ServiceNow platform
- Follow the UL Solutions Code of Conduct, and all physical and digital security practices
- Other duties as directed by the platform owner
QUALIFICATIONS
- Have achieved a University degree or another relevant degree with a programming component and 6-8+ years industry experience
- Maintain current ServiceNow Administrator and/or Platform Architect certifications
- Maintain a thorough understanding of ITIL and ITOM principals and methodologies
- Be familiar with Six Sigma & continuous improvement methodologies
- Demonstrate deep experience with designing, deploying, leading and supporting large implementation projects with broad IT impact
- Possess deep ServiceNow technical platform and automation expertise
- Demonstrate ability with integrations via Integration Hub and APIs
- Demonstrate ability using SCRUM, Agile Scrum or SAFE methodologies
- Demonstrate ability with Java script and Angular Java Script
- Know and apply fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of software architecture
Other qualifications:
- Demonstrate experience with remote management of 3rd party systems including applications, vendors and team members
- Possess the ability to clearly communicate both verbal and in writing and to handle multiple ongoing projects is a must
- Demonstrate complex problem-solving ability
- Possess the ability to work effectively with others including; leadership, product owners, developers and manual testers and team mates
