Overall Purpose
The Settlement Operations Analyst is a blend of data analysis, transaction research, customer service, ad hoc reporting, and accounting in regards to settlement operation activities. The Settlement Operations Analyst's primary responsibility will be to support partners in settlement and reconciliation activities utilizing an enterprise settlement application.
Essential Functions
- Complete daily settlement balancing and reconciliation activities utilizing the designated application
- Perform daily funding reconciliation for the transactional activity to support our customers
- Perform quality control reviews on completed reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Report application defects internally and support product and delivery managers regarding that as needed
- Assist partners and provide instructions for the daily discrepancies and required adjustments
- Perform monitoring and validation within settlement application to ensure processing was timely and complete
- Complete workflow tickets to ensure proper classifications and appropriate level of detail and resolution steps in each ticket
- Work with other support teams to assist them in researching consumer inquiries related to payment transactions
- Follow existing operating procedures adhering to audit controls, and recommend modifications to improve quality, controls and efficiency
- Inform participants for upcoming settlement changes or other observations that may have a processing impact or other issues
- Engage in triaging issues and working with internal and external teams as needed
- Provide metrics for settlement systems and issue tracking, using appropriate tools, which may include database interface via ad hoc queries, or existing system reports
- Participate in disaster recovery events for all applications, identify gaps and processing procedures.
- Maintain documentation of processes, procedures and internal controls
- Support the company's commitment to risk management and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data
Minimum Qualifications
- Education and experience typically obtained through completion of a Bachelor's Degree in finance, business, accounting, or related field with experience supporting users and an ability to relate business needs to system capability or a combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of progressive experience in settlement operations.
- Strong data entry, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
- Must be proficient in MS Excel - vlookups, pivot table, macros, conditional formatting
- Experience performing high level data analysis and comfortable working with sensitive data
- Proficient in writing and modifying SQL queries, understanding of databases and table structures and must enjoy working with data
- In depth understanding of financial transaction settlement, reconciliation, and financial/customer impacts.
- A strong work ethic and positive attitude, with excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to analyze and evaluate procedures and work processes and to exercise appropriate judgment in establishing priorities, processes and work methods
- Ability to work independently in a high volume fast paced environment
- Superior organization skills with excellent attention to detail
- Background and drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance or related field
- Experience providing Settlement functions in the Banking or Payments Network sector
- Experience with SQL, MS Excel, Splunk, virtual desktops, SalesForce, ticketing systems,
- Financial institution experience
- Additional related education and/or experience preferred

Physical Requirements
Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.
