Shopify Technical Lead

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Shopify Technical Lead in Brazil.

This role is focused on leading the technical evolution of a large-scale e-commerce platform built on Shopify, serving a global audience and stakeholders primarily based in the US. You will act as the main technical reference within a multidisciplinary engineering team, combining hands-on development with architectural decision-making. The position involves optimizing performance, scalability, and security while continuously improving an existing codebase. You will collaborate closely with international stakeholders to translate business needs into robust technical solutions. In this environment, you will also guide other developers through best practices, code reviews, and technical mentoring. The role is highly impactful, with direct influence on platform stability, user experience, and long-term architecture strategy.

In this role, you will act as the primary technical reference for the Shopify-based platform, ensuring high-quality delivery and continuous improvement of the solution.

• Lead technical decisions and support the development team in day-to-day implementation challenges
• Review and enhance existing code with a focus on performance, scalability, and security
• Contribute to system architecture design and define integration strategies across platforms
• Develop and support complex features within the Shopify ecosystem
• Collaborate with global stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Support integrations with third-party systems such as payment gateways, ERPs, and external services
• Define and promote best practices in development, version control, and code quality
• Conduct code reviews and provide technical mentorship to other developers
• Ensure application stability through bug fixing, maintenance, and continuous monitoring
• Participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to ongoing platform evolution

Requirements:

This position requires strong technical expertise in e-commerce environments, along with proven experience in Shopify development and modern web technologies.

• Solid experience in e-commerce platform development
• Hands-on experience with Shopify and its ecosystem
• Strong proficiency in PHP and working knowledge of React
• Experience with REST and GraphQL API integrations
• Solid understanding of Git version control workflows
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Tailwind
• Experience applying best practices in performance, security, and scalable development
• Advanced English level for collaboration with global teams
• Familiarity with Jira and agile environments

Nice to have:

• Experience with Shopify Plus and/or BigCommerce
• Exposure to payment platforms such as Adyen, Stripe, or similar solutions
• Knowledge of tax and compliance systems like Avalara or Vertex
• Previous experience in technical leadership roles
• Understanding of scalable system architecture and integration design
