Job Description Summary

Responsible for all operations within the SiFab Department - including but not limited to:

  • Safety as the leader driving World Class Standards
  • Quality as the leader driving quality through the operation
  • Operational Efficiency as the plant leader
  • Deliver Manufacturing Variance to plan
  • Deliver new product development as a contributor within the Development Team
  • Drive individual performance in their team
  • Drive CI across their department and site
  • Deliver product on time by working with Site Supply Chain Team

The operation runs across a 24hr/7 day a week shift system.

Complete short-term activities to enable the successful management of daily/weekly/monthly KPI's around the key deliverables of Safety, Quality, and Operational Efficiency.

Plan strategically to effectively work with Technical Development and Maintenance Teams.

Select, organize, train, and motivate the SiFab labor force to ensure optimum productivity and cost levels. Recommend and drive improvements in production flow or manufacturing equipment/processes.

Experience in Manufacturing Management required with a solid background in hazardous material operations and chemical process safety.

Experience working within an IATF 16949 accredited manufacturing operation preferred.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the site operations team.

Drive Safety

  • Lead the departmental safety strategy in alignment with the Site Safety Strategy
  • Drive excellence in safety systems and safety culture across site
  • Drive Safety as our #1 Focus
  • Meet site targets for Lagging Indicators (Recordable Rate, Lost Time Accident Rate) and leading indicators (GEMBA/Behavioral Observations)
  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA and other required operational safety standards

Manage People

  • Define and enforce clear ownership and ensure accountability to drive performance
  • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to optimize operational efficiency
  • Develop an effective and open relationship with peers and reports
  • Conduct frequent feedback sessions with direct reports to develop the individual and achieve results
  • Build a high performing team through identifying high potential hires and developing existing employees

Drive Quality

  • Apply root cause analysis and develop root cause solution mentality to address customer complaints
  • Manage adherence to departmental Quality Control Plan using leading indicators such as compliance to Control Plans and improving Process Capability to ensure product quality
  • Ensure defined quality specifications are achieved
  • Drive department to IATF certification
  • Use suitable problem-solving methodology to reduce variability in manufacturing processes and minimize process scrap

Drive Operational Performance / Control Cost

  • Achieve the departmental performance targets that drive cost of production (OEE, labor efficiency, yield efficiency)
  • Ensure Continuous Improvement methodology across department, incorporating lean tools and capitalizing on best practice reapplication to meet/exceed cost savings targets
  • Work with Maintenance Manager to ensure Engineering Reliability is improved year over year, and targets achieved as a minimum
  • Work with Production Planning Department to ensure customer satisfaction with OTIF efficiency

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Process/Chemical Engineering or Manufacturing Management
  • 7+ years of related experience focused within Manufacturing Operations as a leader, particularly in continuous and capital intensive operations.
  • Significant experience with hazardous materials and operations management required
  • Understanding of supply chain, quality, safety, planning and logistics activities
  • Experience of the practical application of Lean Manufacturing Principles
  • Proven competence in driving continuous improvement and cost savings results
  • Experience establishing and executing against an annual business plan
  • Understands the financial analysis of operational performance

  • Focus on Quality: experience in producing a hi quality and consistent product to tight manufacturing specifications
  • Process Management: Able to identify and implement technology that streamlines operations and drives efficiency and improvement
  • Change Management: Experienced in leading an organization through change using Change Management Systems. Able to influence both internally and externally the need to make change
  • Problem Solving: Demonstrated problem solving skills. Quickly able to ascertain the cause of a problem by using disciplined data driven problem solving methodology.
  • Communication & Influencing skills: Demonstrates competence to effectively interact with all levels of the business and within customers, Communicates in a manner that unites team members with a sense of direction and team spirit in order to "get the job done" in an efficient and timely manner
  • Develops Others: Experienced in developing departmental reports and site peers
  • Team Values: Outstanding leadership skills with a high commitment to team values; proven ability to energize an organization and implement change as a visible leader with a strong work ethic and high standards for integrity and honesty
  • Ability to develop relationships, work with, and influence people in all areas and at all levels of organization
  • Ability to handle pressure and balance multiple priorities
  • Experience of working with customers
