Position Description
Work for Micron Technology Inc., one of the world's largest semiconductor companies.
Our equipment software team is looking to hire a self-motivated embedded software engineer. Our embedded software engineers develop software running at the hardware / software interface layer as well as higher level diagnostic software. You will work with other software engineers and other engineering disciplines to help create and support custom semiconductor testers from the ground up.
We work in a challenging, results-oriented, multi-discipline design engineering environment. We create and support software for a variety of equipment created by our multi-discipline design team.
Daily Work
The daily work of our equipment software team involves:
- Embedded software development (bare metal, Linux development), hands-on hardware debug, providing input to schematic design, reviewing PCB layouts, prototyping circuits, debugging analog and digital hardware, testing, and creating documentation.
- System software development for back-end command and control framework, leveraging IOT protocols, interfacing with third party control devices, automating testing, and creating documentation.
- Coding primarily in C++, and Python under Linux for various microcontrollers and computing modules acting as the interface to custom hardware. Other languages are used as needed.
- Working in cross-discipline design teams involving software, electrical, controls, and mechanical engineers.
- Collaborating globally with other engineers.

Our team, the Micron Systems Integration Group (SIG), develops and builds internal test equipment for Micron. We are continually being challenged with a wide range of software and hardware design projects. Our work is essential to keep Micron at the forefront of the global memory market. We must be more agile, robust, efficient, and capable than our competitors.
Primary responsibilities
- Work closely with software, electrical, mechanical, and control engineers in the design, development, and support of next-generation memory testers
- Develop/Debug in C/C++ for embedded environments
- Develop in C++/Python/Bash for system level environments
- Use of lab equipment for design bring-up, debug, and testing
- Communication - written, spoken, creating technical documents in English
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
- Proficiency with C++
- Familiarity with Linux and GNU tool chain
- Intermediate electronic knowledge
Preferred Qualifications
- C++ advanced proficiency
- Python proficiency
- Experience with embedded software tools
- Familiarity with schematics, and PCB layout
- Proficiency with Linux, GNU toolchain
- Experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, SMUs)
- Knowledge of intermediate electrical engineering concepts, schematic and PCB layout knowledge
