HITACHI RAIL is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Signaling V&V Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. This position works in Pittsburgh, PA.

Accountabilities

- The Signaling V&V Engineer will be required to perform the following duties:

(1) Guarantee the definition of the Signaling system and subsystem Validation Test Specification and the implementation of the Signaling system and subsystem V&V activities according to the RAMS governance directions and to the Company processes and guidelines;

(2) Ensure delivery of project V&V documents at Signaling system and subsystem level in cooperation with the other RAMS functions, Engineering, Operation & Maintenance and external suppliers; and

(3) Ensure the definition of the requirements and expected features for the testing environments/tools, needed to execute the Signaling system and subsystem Validation activities.

Required Skills/ Knowledge

- Must have one year of positive train control system experience in the railway industry.

- Must also have experience with the following:

(1) developing test specifications that can be used to validate vital and non-vital software, based on project or customer requirements;

(2) using correct test techniques in accordance with applicable industry standards;

(3) understanding of EN 50128, 55011, IEEE 1558, AREMA standards and methods for testing hardware and software for the railway industry;

(4) documenting solutions and technical issues identified during testing; and

(5) developing test environments and test cases for hardware and software development products.

Education/Qualifications

- Position requires a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science

- Position requires five (5) years of experience as a test engineer, V&V engineer or in a system engineering or code development position in the railway industry.

In accordance with the DOT's FRA and FTA programs, Hitachi's substance screening program tests pre-employment candidates and current employees, as required for safety-sensitive positions.
