Simulation Engineer II

As a Simulation Engineer you will assist with the development of simulation systems by coding, testing, and implementing components that relate directly to space simulation capabilities for Slingshot’s digital space environment. Your work will help integrate cutting-edge approaches into our simulation systems and software products, and bolster development, research, insights, and functions. 

• Executes all position responsibilities in alignment with Slingshot’s core values, mission, and purpose
• Identify, lead, and deliver insights as simulation results, code bases, papers, internal communications, and intellectual property
• Participate in the design and delivery of simulation products, business concepts, and outreach activities
• Conceptualize, compose, and code production-ready simulation and software products, build processes to access data systems, and engineer relevant functions for simulation applications
• Work in a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced, evolving operational environment that spans military, government, and industry partners
• Perform other duties as assigned (to be less than 10% of the responsibilities listed above)

• Must be a U.S. citizen eligible for government clearances

• Bachelor's degree in mathematics, computer science, data science, or other quantitative discipline (or equivalent experience)
• 2+ year experience with development of simulation systems, agent based or individual based models and systems
• Ability to develop complex engineering simulations with many interacting components
• Understanding of quantitative data science approaches to machine learning, self-supervised learning, generative models, or reinforcement learning
• Strong background managing and accessing large data systems and processes in cloud environments
• Demonstrated proficiency in software development in a formal programming language (e.g. Julia, Python, Java/Kotlin, C++)

• Experience developing gaming environments and simulations
• Experience with distributed systems and parallel computing 
• Familiarity with communication protocols across distributed systems (e.g. gRPC).
• Knowledge of astrodynamics 
• Experience in startup environments and on small engineering teams
• Experience working with government clients

Compensation Details

• $95,000-$145,000

Location: Remote 

Classification: Full time Exempt (learned professional exemption)
