As a Simulation Operations Specialist, you will provide support in the use of simulation in multidisciplinary healthcare settings as well as prepare and maintain lab equipment and materials related to simulation. You will be responsible for helping plan simulations and human patient simulators, setting up and tearing down, and running the simulators.

After two years of simulation experience, Simulation Operations Specialists can take the Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) certification exam. Job Details

Responsibilities:

  • Programs software to model simulator's physiological response to instructor specifications.
  • Operates patient simulators for the duration of simulations.
  • Assists in training faculty in the use of simulation equipment and collaborates in maintenance and repair by troubleshooting immediate issues with simulation equipment and all other equipment used in relation to the simulations.
  • Sets up and tears down rooms in preparation for various simulations.
  • Works closely with department manager and education specialist in coordinating simulations.
  • Works closely with department manager in maintaining inventory of all equipment and supplies related to simulation.
  • Provides recommendations on equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Maintains current knowledge of simulation equipment catalogs and operation manuals.
  • May operate and maintain audio/visual equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Associate's degree

Certifications:

  • None required.

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare environment required.
  • Two (2) years healthcare simulation experience may offset Associate's degree requirement.
  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, nursing, or related discipline may offset experience requirement.
  • Simulation experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
  • Ability to move up to 85 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to work on overhead equipment
  • Ability to work in confined, darkened areas.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
