Job Summary
Provides support in the use of simulation in multidisciplinary healthcare settings. Prepares and maintains lab equipment and materials related to simulation. Will primarily assist with the enterprise in-situ Mock Code Program.

Job Details

Responsibilities:
  • Supports primarily the enterprise-wide Mock Code program with technical support including traveling to various locations with facilitators.
  • Works closely with the Mock Code Program Manager in scheduling events.
  • Programs software to model simulator's physiological response to instructor specifications.
  • Operates patient simulators for the duration of simulations.
  • Assists in training faculty in the use of simulation equipment and collaborate in maintenance and repair by troubleshooting immediate issues with simulation equipment and all other equipment used in relation to the simulations.
  • Sets up and tears down rooms in preparation for various simulations.
  • Maintains inventory of all equipment and supplies related to simulation.
  • Provides recommendations on equipment, supplies, and materials.
  • Maintains current knowledge of simulation equipment catalogs and operation manuals.
  • May operate and maintain audio/visual equipment.
  • Support labs that work with live tissue.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Education:
  • Associate's degree


Certifications:
  • None required.


Complexity of Work:
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.


Work Experience:
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare environment required.
  • Two (2) years healthcare simulation experience may offset Associate's degree requirement.
  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, nursing, or related discipline may offset experience requirement.
  • Simulation experience is preferred.


Physical Requirements:
  • Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 85 pounds (with assistance).
  • May occasionally climb 8-foot ladders to work on overhead equipment.
  • Position will occasionally need to work in confined darkened areas.
  • Manual dexterity to use tools and work on mechanical parts.


Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
