Site Reliability Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Modernize the hosting infrastructure of our highest scale applications
• Using CI/CD best practices, improve the delivery of our large scale Java applications to the production environment
• Leverage infrastructure-as-code and AWS services to evolve our current infrastructure to be self healing and auto-scaling
• Improve the observability of the systems and use that data to make actionable alerts
• Respond to production instability within a predefined, shared schedule every 6-8 weeks
• Remove toil from the development team by automating repetitive tasks and creating self-service tools.
• Assist with the incident process to improve and maintain site stability.
• Write infrastructure-as-code in such a way that it can be leveraged across multiple applications

• Experience with software provisioning tools (Ansible, Terraform)
• Familiarity with AWS managed service offerings and able to design and implement solutions that use them.
• Experience building, deploying, and modifying CI/CD pipelines in Gitlab.
• Familiarity with NewRelic or other similar APM tools. 
• Experience with software monitoring and log aggregation tools. 

• Working knowledge of the Linux operating system.
• Knowledgeable about security best practices with experience implementing them at scale.
• 5+ years of experience in a software engineering discipline.
• 2+ years of experience as a site reliability engineer.
• Experience with containerization (Kubernetes, docker).
• Familiar with microservice and event driven architectures.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Information Technology or Computer Science.
