Alarm.com is looking for a versatile Site Reliability Engineer to support our Video applications. You will be part of the broader DevOps team that focuses on supporting our backend infrastructure, both triaging and responding to incidents, supporting our deployments and the associated tooling, as well as analyzing our system for improvements and introducing new technologies to our stack. Responsibilities

  • Works on Site Reliability projects and builds knowledge to become the subject matter expert (SME) for technical solutions and processes. 
  • Build, manage, and maintain third party solutions and custom systems.  Researches and implements new infrastructure and services.
  • Collaborates with Senior and Principal Site Reliability Engineers, developers, and the infrastructure team to build and maintain automation tool chains for infrastructure and service deployment, management, and configuration.
  • Work with Software Engineers, Devops Engineers, NOC Engineers and Senior Site Reliability Engineers to ensure Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery solutions.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains automation tasks.
  • Identifies and raises technical risks. 
  • Implements new and improves existing metrics, monitoring, and alerting services.
  • Participates in on-call rotation and provides mentorship to associate engineers for on-call onboarding.
  • Builds automation and tool chain skills and efficiencies.  Becomes Subject matter expert over parts of our tool chain.
  • Continue to learn and further develop Site Reliability skills such as coding, automation, and opensource/3rd party system management.
  • Participates in training cohorts to further knowledge and obtain industry certification.

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years’ relevant work experience in Site Reliability
  • BA/BS in Computer Engineering or Computer Science or related field, or 3 years’ experience.
  • Excellent ability to communicate and work as a team.
  • Experience managing and administering Windows and Linux environment. Exposure to Sentry or similar monitoring tools.  Exposure to managing kubernetes clusters.
  • Experience with Server and Application Performance Monitoring tools and concepts.
  • Experience with cloud platforms and virtualization technologies: VMware, AWS, Azure.
  • Some experience with automation frameworks and tools: Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Terraform, Bash, PowerShell.
  • Proficient in at least one programing language such as C++, Python, or C#.
