Our Site Reliability Engineering team combines the Software Engineering & Systems Engineering to solve problems related to operating, scaling, and improving fault-tolerance of systems/services at Instabase.Ā
The team keeps a watchful eye on the system performance, capacity, and failures to ensure high availability, and ability to grow the platform. We take a data driven approach to optimization; prioritizing/implementing ideas to improve system performance and reliability.Ā
This role is deeply important to the success of Instabase as a whole, and requires a high degree of ownership. You will have freedom to make appropriate decisions / improvements for our infrastructure components.Ā Ā
What you'll do- Actively work on creating / managing infrastructure components for building / deploying, and scaling up Instabase platform and applications. Drive initiatives to remove manual processes, and increase the speed of product development.
- Help ensure uptime and reliability across Instabase platform and applications. Practice thorough incident responses and reviews.Ā
- Work across engineering teams through the development lifecycle to ensure that we incorporate the tenets of building scalable, distributed fault-tolerant systems
- Perform production readiness checks for new/existing services and features by advising on design reviews, capacity management, system monitoring and alerting etc
- Manage Instabaseās cloud infrastructure deployments. Actively work on automation, and optimizing the footprint.Ā
Our software is written in Go, Python, Java, and C++ and operates using the micro-services model. We use Docker and Kubernetes for our deployments. Our platform / application footprint is present across major cloud service providers, and we use Infra-as-Code / Terraform for automation/management.Ā
About you- EngineeringĀ degree (BE, BTech, MS, or Ph.D.) in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics), or equivalent major
- 2+ years of experience working as Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Software Engineer, DevOpsĀ Engineer, Network Engineer, or equivalent positions
- Understand software design, and experience coding in higher-level languages (e.g. Python, Go, C++, others)
- You mayĀ have past experienceĀ across (one or more of) following areas -
- Infrastructure provisioning, management andĀ automation tools (e.g. Ansible, Terraform)
- Operating systems, TCP/IP network fundamentals or storage systems
- Applications such as container orchestrators, caching systems, messagingĀ systems or databases in production environments
