Job Description

Seeking a smart and driven individual to work closely with our software and hardware development teams to manage and improve our core trading systems and processes. This individual will be responsible for monitoring the real-time operation of our systems, responding to outages, developing tools to manage an ever-increasing range of systems, and working closely with software and hardware engineers, as well traders and quants, to identify issues and build better systems. 


Note: This is not a development role

What You'll Do:

  • Use proprietary monitoring tools to proactively monitor systems for problems and performance changes.
  • Take primary responsibility for outage handling and stakeholder follow-up.
  • Research new server technologies and identify ideal server configurations that will reduce latency and improve overall performance of trading applications.
  • Leverage SQL to configure systems and perform comprehensive data analysis from diverse sources, contributing to a holistic understanding of system performance
  • Collaborate with developers to deploy new servers and applications, reconfigure existing systems, and track changes made to the system.
  • Partner with the IT group to procure, test, and configure production and test hardware, track changes, and plan for future system needs.
  • Automate existing procedures to streamline resolution of support problems, minimize configuration errors, and increase system transparency.
  • Work with developers and analysts to configure, test, and validate new strategies and deployments. . 

What We're Looking For:

  • A STEM or STEM-adjacent degree with at least 2 years of relevant work experience in an engineering / IT, DevOps or systems-type role
  • Demonstrated drive to own and solve time-sensitive problems, actively pushing multiple parallel issues towards resolutions in the most efficient and way possible.
  • Comprehensive linux systems/server configuration knowledge, including kernel tuning
  • Robust scripting skills for automation and day-to-day problem solving
  • Effective and clear communication skills, including being able to talk and relay concepts to peers and team members of varying technical ability
  • Eagerness to engage with business domain concepts and apply a diverse spectrum of DevOps skills in solutions

Bonus Points:

  • Experience working in the trading industry, including a working knowledge of exchange protocols and order lifecycles
  • General operations knowledge including, but not limited to:
  • Working with TCP and relevant networking tools, such as Wireshark and tcpdump
  • Linux systems and OS level configurations
  • Demonstrated proficiency in advanced SQL concepts and practices
  • General server management / infrastructure
