IDS is seeking a Site Superintendent for Pre-Construction activities for Malawi Defense Force’s (MDF) Malawi Armed Forces College (MAFCO), and Construction including all labor, materials, equipment, and services necessary to accomplish the construction required by this contract.

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical expertise and insight on electrical works and engineering needs.
• Support the Project Manager with on-site engineering tasks, as needed.
• Maintains project administration in a correct and timely manner.
• Orders materials and equipment and takes care of the necessary permits.
• Accomplishes construction human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, and training employees.
• Assesses safety and finance goals.
• Manages sub-contractors by locating, evaluating, and selecting contractors.
• Meets operational standards by contributing construction information to strategic plans and reviews.
• Meets construction budget by monitoring project expenditures.
• Accomplishes construction project results by defining project purpose and scope.
• Approves construction projects by conducting inspections at critical phases.
• Prevents fines and work interruptions by complying with, and enforcing, codes.
• Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following guidelines, standards, and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent degree with a minimum experience of four (4) years in managing similar projects.
• For data cabling and electrical works, have at least two years’ experience in the field.
• Possess a valid national engineering license.
• Have more than one (1) year managing similar projects.
• Read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Project
• (Preferred) Previous experience in military simulations and Military Operations in Urban Terrain (MOUT) operations.
• Strong written and oral communication in English and excellent interpersonal skills.
