Job Description
The Opportunity
This position is a Site Supervisor role with added responsibilities to support the daily operations of the Social Enterprise including: timely and accurate submission of reports, safety, vehicle and equipment maintenance, supporting Site Supervisors in triaging operational challenges, ordering of PPE and supplies, assisting Site Director/Senior Site Supervisor with scheduling and covering crew when necessary. The Site Supervisor Operations Lead role must distinguish successfully between situations in which established protocols apply, those in which one must exercise independent judgment, and those that need input from manager or senior leadership. At no time will the Site Supervisor Operations Lead discipline or coach performance management of colleagues or fellow employees but will partner with Site Director/Senior Site Supervisor about concerns impacting the smooth and efficient functioning of crews, quality of customer relations, cultivation of professional and ethical participant-centered embodiment and ensuring that which maintains the highest level of safety and health for all Per Diems/Site Supervisors and participants alike. The Lead Site Supervisor reports to the Site Director/Senior Site Supervisor.

Who We Are
The Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO) provides employment services to people with recent criminal convictions. Across the United States, over 6,000 people participate in CEO each year, transitioning to employment that supports themselves, their families, and their communities.
What began as a demonstration project of the Vera Institute of Justice in the 1970s to address employment barriers facing the formerly incarcerated following release in New York City has grown into the leading reentry employment organization in the country, where over 25,000 formerly incarcerated individuals have secured full-time employment since 1996. Since 2009, CEO has gained support to expand its programs through government, nonprofit, and private organizations including the Federal Social Innovation Fund, the Edna McConnell Clark Foundation, Robin Hood Foundation, and Rockefeller Foundation. In 2016, CEO embarked on a 5-year strategic plan to grow to serve 9,000 participants annually

The Nitty Gritty Qualifications
- At least one year of supervisory experience; experience within a vocational trade (construction, landscaping, building maintenance, grounds maintenance, land surveying) preferred but not required
- Valid driver’s license with good driving record
- Must be able to: Consistently lift and move objects up to 75 pounds; stand, kneel, bend, and climb in order to complete projects; work outdoors; walk or stand for long periods of time; drive a 12 passenger van with an attached trailer; operate a smartphone
- Previous safety training preferable, though training will be provided to hired candidate
Additional Responsibilities
Performance Management Support
- Ensures crew reports are submitted on a daily/weekly/monthly and quarterly basis. Actively monitors correct submission of daily timesheets and intervenes to correct errors.Â
- Supports Site Director/Senior Site Supervisor in preparing and compiling daily and monthly Social Enterprise reporting.
- Supports the Site Director/Senior Site Supervisor in maintaining consistent crew fielding rates by calling participants using Salesforce reports.
Per Diem/Site Supervisor Hiring, Training, and Mentoring Support
- Assists in the recruitment, hiring and training of Per Diems and full time Site Supervisors.
- Connects Site Supervisors to professional development and growth opportunities in areas including technical expertise, Motivational Interviewing, Safety guidelines, PTS scoring, Timesheet compliance and cultivates gender responsiveness and trauma-informed, person-centered management.
- Assists in ensuring all crews are in compliance with CEO policies and procedures by following those procedures themselves and embodying ethics, integrity and CEO values of healthy workplace culture.
- Supports with Crew Coach pipeline for participants showing promise, JSR and embodied leadership after their first 40 days of employment on TJ. Create vetting structure, application process, selection process and on-boarding process.Â
Safety, Fleet, and Supplies Liaison Â
- Serves as the Fleet Administrator for all local vehicles, trailers and porta-potties. Tracks and supports Site Supervisors in coordinating vehicle maintenance (both routine and as needed), and conducts weekly vehicle inspections.
- Provides guidance to Site Supervisors on day-to-day vehicle and equipment challenges such as flat tires, van breakdowns, trailer light and wiring issues, and toilet trailer issues. Ensures every Per Diem/Site Supervisors has all maintenance and emergency phone numbers stored in CEO phones and in the vans.
- Tracks inventory and orders supplies for site and crews using Internal SutiProcure on Salesforce.Â
- Leads crew launch, and reports on any operational issues that arise.
- Ensures crews adhere to all CEO, COVID and Caltrans safety standards.
- Ensures legal compliance for vehicles related to insurance and registration.
Crew Launch Support
- Supervises the crew launch every morning from 5:30am to roughly 6:45am (or as specific crew schedules dictate) and ensures smooth operations in terms of personnel and technical issues.Â
- Supports Site Supervisors in conducting and documenting coaching conversations with participants around performance issues.Â
- Supervises the standby process and ensures proper documentation to ensure daily crew fielding rates.
- Supports the documentation of crew Incident Reports in Salesforce and follow up with relevant Vocational staff and Program Manager.
- Manages communication with DATA and Payroll around participant attendance and pay issues. Â
- Communicates with DATA to set crew assignments to correct Supervisor coverage daily.Â
- Utilize Salesforce (CORE) system to help submit cases, clear interventions and other steps necessary to keep operations running and proper documentation.
Crew Supervision
- As this is primarily a Site Supervisor role (see Site Supervisor Job Description) with added responsibilities, the Lead SS will be regularly scheduled to cover crew shifts as well as expected to cover crews if there are call-outs or absences of other Site Supervisors or Per Diems. Expected to be supervising work crews 60% of the time.Â
Compensation and Benefits
The compensation for this position is $26/hour with possibility of accumulating over time occasionally.
