We are seeking a San Antonio, Texas based SMA Analyst to join the SMA Operations Team.

Separately Managed Accounts (SMA) Operations ensure that all accounts are invested in their selected model in a timely, efficient and accurate manner. We support equity and fixed income portfolio management and sales teams by performing critical daily, weekly and monthly tasks to ensure account data is accurate and accounts are invested properly. The member of this team will perform various daily, weekly and monthly duties, field inquiries from internal and external clients and work on high level tasks, projects and issues as needed

The SMA Analyst will be responsible for performing and overseeing the various tasks that support the SMA fixed income and equity portfolio business. The best candidate for this position will possess outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent communication skills; intermediate operational knowledge involving: securities, trading, portfolio management, trade settlement, reconciliation corporate actions and reporting.

The SMA Analyst will be responsible for providing service and support to the SMA fixed income and equity portfolio management and sales teams. The Analyst will be responsible for a wide variety of evolving tasks related to, but not limited to this support. Key applications used are MS Excel, MS Access, as well as a variety of web-based sponsor trading and trade support applications that we will be happy to train the right candidate on.

The key job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

It is the responsibility of this team to ensure that client accounts are always invested into their selected model. On a regular basis, the model will undergo changes that must be implemented by this team in a timely manner. This involves the updating of our distribution platforms with updated files that will result in new trades being made to the client's account, thus keeping them in line with their chosen model. The ideal candidate will help to create these files in either Excel or Access, review block trade orders to implement model account changes, and analyze trades for any potential errors or problems prior to executing any changes. Additional responsibilities may include the processing of trade files and trade allocations, reviewing web portals, work queues and inboxes to ensure outstanding work has been completed, and reviewing for Quality work processed by the team.

The person in this diverse and fast-paced role will be exposed to a wide scope of ever-evolving businesses within our firm. He or she will be encouraged to develop better practices for existing tasks, enhance procedures and continuously cross train on other areas of our business within SMA.

The person in this role will have an opportunity to drive the success of this department by partnering with various internal and external groups to enhance processes, mitigate risks, and launch new clients and products. This person will also be exposed to many areas within our firm and will become familiar with the processes of various groups over time.

Job Qualifications (The ideal candidate should have the following):

Qualifications, Experience, Education:

The ideal candidate should have a Business or Finance degree, and financial experience is always a plus, but not required. While the degree is preferred, it is not required for the right candidate bringing relevant work experience to our firm and the skills required for the position.

Skills:

The candidate should have very strong communication and organizational skills. They must also be very detail oriented and demonstrate proficiency in manipulating and generating Excel spreadsheets and using Access databases to generate data. Time management would be an important skill to possess as priorities within our team change throughout the day and the ideal candidate should be able to shift focus seamlessly. The candidate should have the ability to work independently, when applicable, and cooperatively in a team setting, and demonstrate customer focus.

Special Knowledge (if applicable):

No special knowledge is required for this position, but an understanding of financial securities is a strong plus. While we are willing to train, the candidate must be able to demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of what is being taught and be able to further develop skills through additional training, coaching and feedback. Someone who is good with data output will also do well in this position.
