Snowflake Engineer

Techstra is seeking an experienced Snowflake Engineer. This role will be part of a COE Snowflake team focused on, modernizing analytics platforms, new functionalities and improving agility. The role requires hands-on experience in building and managing analytics solutions in Snowflake, provide direction on adoption of Cloud technologies (Snowflake) and industry best practices in the field of Data Engineering architecture and development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Good understanding in Snowflake platform: external tables, materialized views, stored procedures, tasks, row-based access policy and role-based access policy, time-travel, fail-safe, connectors, Micro-partitions & Data Clustering in snowflake, query pruning

• Establish Data Engineering architecture strategy, best practices, standards, and roadmap

• 2 years of designing and implementing a fully operational production grade large scale data solution on Snowflake Data Warehouse

• Need to have professional knowledge of Datawarehouse, Developing ETL pipelines in and out of data warehouse using a combination of Python and writing SQL queries against Snowflake

• Experience with AWS RI/SP management, cost explorer, and other financial management tools

• Experience developing ETL Pipeline using Python, Snowflake and IDMC

• Experience with loading batch and streaming data

• Build Data Flows mapping Source systems and Process flows

• Assemble large, complex data sets that meet non-functional and functional business requirements

• Perform code reviews and assist developers in optimization and troubleshooting

• Expertise in Snowflake advanced concepts like setting up resource monitors, RBAC controls, virtual warehouse sizing, query performance tuning, zero copy clone, time travel and understand how to use these features

• Knowledge in AWS and management technologies such as S3

• Strong written communication skills- Is effective and persuasive in both written and oral communication
   

Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a technology related field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, etc.) with a focus on data analysis, data structures, or data modeling 

• SnoPro Certification Preferred/Desired

• Strong experience in Snowflake, AWS and related cloud data products 

• Proficient in migrating data from various sources to Snowflake such as Oracle, Hadoop

• Proficient in designing and building data work flows

• Experience building Snowflake ecosystems from the ground up. Items such as networking, security, active directory; and designing scaling solutions

• Experience supporting business units in a COE fashion. Items such as supporting real time ingestion, real-time data transformations, troubleshooting complex queries to prevent system slowness/degradation

• Experience with Automation and CI/CD platforms in support of snowflake work

• Strong experience in Python

• Working knowledge of IICS, dbt ETL/ELT technologies 

• Familiar with the financial industry
