Social Impact Development Coordinator
Job Description
Discovery Education is looking for a high-energy, data-oriented, driven Social Impact Development Coordinator with sound business acumen, strong technical aptitude and natural administrative instincts to support the growth of long-term partnerships with like-minded organizations that engage students, parents and teachers around critical topic areas.
Specifically, as our Social Impact Development Coordinator, you will support our Development team in the proactive cultivation of strategic relationships with Foundations, Non-Profits, Fortune 500 Companies, and Associations that share Discovery Education's mission to advance youth achievement. You will act as the organizational hub for development activities through operational excellence, data maintenance and analysis, prospective research, and proactive communication across the division.
This role will sit in our Charlotte, NC Headquarters with a hybrid schedule. Candidate must be willing to travel to the office 2 - 3 times a week.
What You Will Do
In this role, no two days will be the same. Your primary responsibilities require you to be a proactive business partner to the members of the larger Social Impact Partnerships team through superb communication skills and analytic thinking that supports data integrity of the team and operational excellence.
You will support relationship management of Discovery Education's Strategic Alliance partners. Connecting the dots between teams will be the key to your success as we strive to scale impact in our work to support teachers and students.
In addition, you will also own the responsibility of supporting members of the Development team in their strategic efforts to ignite partner conversations and foster relationships that focus on social good. Researching industry news, company giving data and CSR (corporate social responsibility) trends is a key part of this role.
As you have a growth mindset, you are motivated to seek new and innovative ways to engage our partner audience as you source new partner organizations who share our vision of collective impact.
Our Social Impact Partnerships Team

Requirements
The ideal candidate for this role is a natural communicator and is eager to collaborate with colleagues. You have a strong affinity for connecting dots across business units and are ready to work with a keen sense of urgency to contribute to the team's success. You are excited by strategic philanthropy and understand how to activate communications strategies that motivate colleagues to act. You have a knack for spotting potential areas of collaboration and the ability to understand industry trends, current events, and make relevant connections that may impact our business.
Our ideal candidate will have strong written communication skills with the ability to deliver concise, engaging messaging and, most importantly, thrive in a high-energy, purpose-driven sales environment and are eager to advance in our organization by demonstrating your ability to be a tenacious self-starter every day.
Finally, this role requires an individual who loves working with large data sets to support data quality and insights that ultimately propel business objectives with efficiency.
Required Requirements:
- Passionate about Discovery Education's vision to transform teaching and learning.
- A cool, calm and collected approach to problem solving.
- Bachelor's Degree required in business, marketing, communications, social impact, or another related field.
- Excellent written and oral communication as well as strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with many employees.
- Strong affinity and background in data management and analysis.
- An effective listener to understand the many variables associated with project management and communicate priorities with a positive, solution-oriented mindset.
