Social Media and Digital Marketing Intern Spring/Summer

Job Summary

The Social Media & Digital Marketing Intern is responsible for assisting the Communications Manager in implementing OEF’s overall communications and branding goals—focusing specifically on digital communications—to build brand awareness and a clear vision of “who we are”, “what we do” and what “our capabilities” are.

Reports To: Communications Specialist

Location:  Broomfield, Colorado or Washington DC. The Broomfield office is the One Earth Future Headquarters and operates on a hybrid in-office/work from home model. This position may have the option for remote work.

Compensation: 15.30 per hour / up to 20 hours per week 

Length of Commitment:  6 months

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Work with Comms Team to create and refine social media strategies and outreach to position and promote OEF awareness and reactions/engagement on a timely and targeted basis
• Assist in managing social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube)
• Develop engaging content and posts relevant to OEF’s issues and brand and manage social media calendar/schedule to ensure content is consistently posted, relevant, creative, and engaging
• Engage with social media followers and respond to comments/messages in a timely fashion
• Use photos, videos, and graphic design tools (such as Canva) to create brand-aligned content for social media, newsletters and other channels of communication
• Work to engage and grow a digital community of organizations, partners, and other leaders in the peace-building / international development sectors in order build relationships, collaborations, and awareness of OEF
• Prepare short weekly summaries and monthly reports to track the growth and success rates of social media campaigns (using Google Analytics and PR/social media tracking software)
• Stay updated and informed on social media trends and adapt strategies and campaigns to align
• Assist in content development, copy editing and layout/design for monthly newsletters and email blasts
• Assist in managing listservs and identifying opportunities to expand outreach
• Assist with other comms tasks  as needed, such as template/document formatting, managing photo/video libraries, printing, etc.

Required Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree or a currently enrolled student in Marketing or Communications or related field, and has 1+ year(s) of experience working with social media
• Must be available for up to 20 hours a week
• High proficiency of leveraging social media for building brand awareness, engaging key audiences and building a community
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, and understanding of SEO and content marketing
• Strong organizational and time management skills, and can prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and has a creative eye for high-quality graphic design, photography, etc
• Solid understanding of SEO and content marketing
• Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work independently

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc)
• Familiarity with mass email distribution tool/software (Salesforce or similar)
• Experience working in nonprofits, or in the fields of international development, political science, or related

Physical Work Demands:

• Able to sit at a computer for extended periods of time.
• Able to bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis.
• Able to lift and move up to 25 lbs regularly.
