Social Worker (Family Advocacy)

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Basic Education Requirements: I have a master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts).

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized experience: I have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes performing crisis intervention, risk and clinical assessments, case management, command consultation and administrative tasks to prevent and treat child and spouse/intimate partner abuse; and providing counseling and developing treatment plans or recommendations serving various beneficiary groups scattered over a large geographical area.

OR

Education: I have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or at least three (3) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree from an accredited college or university that is directly related to the work of the position. OR

Combination of Education and Experience: I have some specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have more than two years of graduate level education, but less than three years of graduate-level education as described in B. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least I 00%. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education in excess of36 hours (total semesters hours minus 36) by I 8. Add the two percentages.
