Location: Westford, MA / hybrid / remote

In 1986, Biscom introduced the world's first network-based computer fax server. Today, the company has evolved from its humble beginnings into a leading secure communication and messaging platform that powers the most complex requirements in industries such as healthcare and financial services, where security and speed matters most. Along with our investor, ParkerGale Capital, we are scaling the company and its offerings to drive our next phase of growth.
Reporting to the to the Head of Engineering, you will play a key role in technology architecture decisions. This will involve Biscom's products that have been in production for many years as well as new products; both with an eye towards modernization and cloud-based technologies. You will need to have strong opinions on what good looks like but also be relatively tool/technology agnostic in order to maximize compatibility for customers and our current products.
What You'll Accomplish - Your Performance Objectives
Objective #1: In your first 30 days:
- Learn as much as you can about the company, team, and product.
- Assess current architecture and provide feedback on architecture discussions.
Objective #2: In your first 3 months:
- Identify changes for the architecture from the reliability, performance and availability perspectives with a data driven approach.
- Develop strategy to modernize existing software and create the future state of our platform.
Objective #3: In your first 6 months:
- Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering Leadership on the product roadmap while owning the technical portion of it.

Technical Skills: Demonstrated track record of successfully managing and shipping cloud-based products to market as well as continued maintenance and support. Evidence of exposure to architectural patterns of large high-scale applications (e.g., well-designed APIs, high volume data pipelines, efficient algorithms). Hands-on experience building applications in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
