Our Data Measurements and Insights team is looking for a Software Engineer to join our Traffic Protection team to investigate, detect, and fight digital fraud and abuse across a variety of advertising platforms and technical environments. We protect our consumers, advertisers and publishers from fraudsters and bot traffic. We are developing next generation technologies to enrich our advertiser and user experience through complex, scalable anti-fraud solutions, with ever growing and interesting challenges.
A Lot About You
We're looking for world-class, highly motivated and passionate engineers to join the Traffic Protection team in Champaign, Illinois where you will have the opportunity to help develop low latency fraud and abuse detection solutions from large scale data manipulation to machine learning solutions to long term data storage, reporting, and analytical systems.
We are looking for software engineers at various experience levels to analyze requirements; investigate optimal software solutions; architect, design, implement and test those solutions; and support our machine learning pipelines and globally deployed non-human traffic detection solutions.
Your Day
You will spend your days doing things like:

• Investigating and building solutions to report on and handle Traffic Quality issues (e.g. botnets, non-human and fraudulent traffic)
• Working through documents and conversations with colleagues to understand product requirements for new features
• Shaping those requirements into design documents and software implementation
• Testing and debugging both your own software and some written by others
• Analyzing and refactoring existing software to enhance its reliability, performance, supportability, and operability
• Helping your team figure out priorities and processes and what's next
• Playing with your friends in some of our local games and contests, from trivia to table tennis, puzzle building, escape rooms and more.

You Must Have

• Hold a BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related major.
• A solid Computer Science foundation in data structures and algorithms, object oriented programming, machine learning, and modern software engineering practices.
• The ability to use an object oriented programming language like Java or C++, scripting languages like Python or Perl, and Unix or Linux systems.
• Relational database technologies.
• Big Data processing components/frameworks and applications including Hadoop, HDFS, Spark, and Flink
• Excellent design, coding, debugging and testing skills.
• Facility with data concepts such as joins, aggregation, projection, and explosion
• The ability to work with large-scale distributed systems
• Solid written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent problem solving and organizational skills
• Great team-working capabilities in an agile development environment
• Willingness to engage productively with others in the industry through the mechanisms of open source software
• The passion to build great products, work with great people and change the world

If hired for this position in Colorado, the compensation range for this position is between $97,500.00 - $162,500.00. The compensation may vary depending on your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include additional incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, plus equity incentives. Yahoo provides industry-leading benefits including healthcare, retirement, company holidays, vacation, sick time, parental leave and an employee assistance program.
