We’re looking for a Software Developer to join our NuORDER by Lightspeed Team in North America. With NuORDER by Lightspeed, you'll build software solutions that help merchants grow the size and the profitability of their business. You'll join a product development team that believes in continuously delivering value, while following software engineering best practices and building robust, scalable solutions for our customers.

For this role, you can be located in Canada or the US. We offer a choice of fully remote, partially remote or fully office-based work environments (in cities with local offices).

What you’ll be doing:

• Collaborating with product managers, developers and other stakeholders as part of a cross-functional team to deliver product features and functionality for merchants
• Developing clean, well designed, highly maintainable, horizontally scaling services and code to create or extend functionality of our products
• Drafting, discussing & implementing technical designs that solve business problems for our customers
• Extending your own skills by learning from and growing with the team
• Be part of defining the product evolution as Lightspeed evolves it’s offerings to merchants & consumers globally

What you need to bring

We're looking for a Software Developer who has experience with the following:

• You should have a solid understanding of software engineering principles and best practices, and be prepared to help your team use those principles in practice
• Experience developing, shipping and monitoring SaaS-based software in the public cloud (AWS, GCP or similar)
• Comfortable contributing to technical design discussions to achieve common goals and to help estimate delivery effectively
• A strong sense of ownership for your features throughout the SDLC and beyond
• Ability to analyse production environments, incidents and performance characteristics
• Eagerness to improve existing features & systems and plan new ones

Even better if you have hands-on experience with (but not necessary):

• Go/Golang (or at least able & interested to learn it)
• Continuous integration and deployment of SaaS applications
• Building high availability, scalable microservices
• Writing automated unit and integration tests
• Frontend/full-stack web development - preferably using React with TypeScript
• AWS or GCP as well as Docker & Kubernetes
• Real time messaging systems (Pub/Sub, Kafka, RabbitMQ) to drive asynchronous event-driven architecture
• Relational (SQL) and NoSQL database experience
• Interest or experience in API-first design (REST)
• Instrumentation and metrics for production service observability
