Our team is currently seeking a Software Developer specializing in IT security applications to support the Ground Systems and Mission Operations-3 (GSMO-3) program at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD. The Software Developer will support the development and deployment of applications to AWS supporting network security logging, monitoring, compliance, and vulnerability management.

Preferred Location: Goddard Spaceflight Center (GSFC), Greenbelt, MD

ESSENTIAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Gather software requirements and support development, testing, and deployment activities throughout the software lifecycle.
• Develop new applications or improve existing software contributing to an existing Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solution including custom plugin integration, data aggregation, machine learning, and notifications.
• Develop infrastructure as code for a hybrid AWS cloud to on-premises networking infrastructure.
• Participate in the continuous integration process using tools such as Gitlab.
• Analyze developed software using dependency tracking and vulnerability analysis tools.
• Perform cloud networking configuration and debugging of subnets, route tables, virtual private cloud (VPC) endpoints, and security groups.
• Enable logging for performance and security monitoring as well as diagnostics.
• Support the operational environment with security analysis, vulnerability management, and SIEM administration.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB:

• BA/BS degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of relevant experience, in lieu of formal education, 5 years of related experience
• U.S. Citizenship

DESIRED SKILLS:

• Knowledge of Python, JavaScript or Golang programming.
• Experience using Git within a DevOps process.
• Experience with AWS cloud services.
• Knowledge of the NASA GSFC networking environment.
