Software Developer Intern

Applied Materials' Engineered Optics Department is searching for an intern to join our team in summer 2023! The Engineered Optics team collaborates through many cross-function teams to create new optical solutions through materials science and technology. The position will entail the following:

• Improve existing Matlab and Python scripts that are used mainly to generate and analyze gds/oasis layout files.

• Propose new script architecture where appropriate.

• Develop new Matlab, Python and tcl scripts.

• Debug, test and validate code, working with multiple Engineered Optics teams.

• Create GUIs.

• Store and manage the team's scripts on a Git server.

Requirements

• Student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Computer Science or equivalent.

• Student must have good Python skills and experience.

• Student must have good knowledge of Matlab.

• Student must be in good academic standing at their university, with a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.

• Knowledge of tcl preferred.

• Quick learner, good communication skills.

Compensation

$25 - $35 per hour

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on a number of factors including location and education level and will vary depending on confirmed job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
