TITLE:                      Software Development Engineer

Duties:                    Develop the next generation of Motor Trend Group’s  software platforms for Motortrend.com and key brands. Collaborate with the Agile Scrum team consisting of tvOS, Roku and HWA to develop software, apps, and other platforms for FireTV, Xbox, and AndroidTV.    Architect and implement software applications for problems of scale. Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting. Contribute to software development projects and planning efforts. Design and develop complex functional changes to existing software systems or new ones. Consult and lead on overall software architecture and strategy and drive high impact decisions. Enforce software development standards, practices and conventions. Review team designs, codes and integrations. Design, code and drive software development best practices, applying best practices to software being worked on and creating best practices where none exist. Understand how individual pieces of software fit into greater ecosystem and advocate for choices among multiple stakeholders, driving high impact decisions on how and what software is developed. Teleworking Permitted.

SCHEDULE:             40 hours per week, Monday through Friday

SALARY:                  $147,410.00 to $165,000 per year

LOCATION:             Motor Trend Group, LLC, 831 S. Douglas Street, El Segundo, CA 90245

REQUIREMENTS:   At Least a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Full-stack Developer, Java/J2EE Developer, or closely related occupation. Also requires at least 3 years of experience in the following:

·         Implementation of software APIs, databases, content management platforms, and infrastructure solutions;

·         Implementation of Monitoring, Telemetry, alerting for the Software Components developed;

·         Implement performant and scalable application using Caching, Exception Handling, Lazy Loading, Pre-fetching techniques; and

·         Modern software development conventions, such as Component based Development, Test Driven Development, Feature Flag based Development, Configuration Externalization.
