Compensation Range

Annual Salary: $88,000.00 - $117,500.00 (Amount based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies.)

We are looking for talented individuals who can help design, develop, deploy, and support an online banking application using leading edge technology. They will also provide technical direction and mentoring to entry-level developers along with ensuring that processes are documented and comply with business strategic needs, security requirements, and coding standards. In addition, they will consult with other IT application groups, IT architecture department, project management, and security to ensure that appropriate design considerations are made. They need to possess an understanding of application environments, interfaces, third-party components and integration architecture along with working with system support personnel and documents operational requirements for application support.

About This Job

This position supports the strategic direction of the Bank's Commercial Digital business by providing software development services for strategic and high priority applications. You will contribute to the project team, developing the product and processes through all phases of the SDLC while ensuring compliance with organizational standards and industry best practices.

Essential Functions

  • Analyze user requirements to build a solution for the real-world problem
  • Write and test code
  • Improve code quality by identifying issues, testing, and maintaining the code
  • Enhance applications by identifying opportunities for improvement and making recommendations
  • Maintain and improve existing codebases and peer review code changes
  • Maintain software systems by monitoring and fixing software defects
  • Create technical specifications
  • Assist with backlog refinement
  • Establish and maintain quality assurance environment(s)
  • Support the implementation of code in higher environments
  • Provide technical support for the team as the on-call subject matter expert for defined applications
  • Work with third-party partners to successfully integrate projects
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Advanced understanding of Web Services, HTTP, SOAP, RESTful, XML, JSON, WSDL, and Schema
  • Advanced understanding of object-oriented and functional programming, Java required
  • Advanced understanding of modern front-end frameworks, ReactJS required
  • Intermediate understanding of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) concepts (microservices), practices, and trends
  • Desire and ability to mentor, share skills, knowledge, and expertise
  • Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervision
  • Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Inquisitive, agile, and strong team player with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values
  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • 7+ years Java experience required
  • 3+ years direct experience mentoring development teams on medium and large sized projects is highly preferred
  • 3+ years experience working on an Agile Scrum team
  • Experience with banking or financial services industry preferred
  • DevOps experience preferred
  • Experience with infrastructure as code preferred

At Commerce, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each situation. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay is $88,000 to $117,500 annually. Depending on the job level, this position may be eligible for additional compensation through performance-based incentive plan(s) that will correspond to meeting performance goals.
