About the team

The Zillow Data Engineering team is responsible for building platforms and tools that empower teams across Zillow Group to efficiently process, search for and understand data at scale. We achieve this goal by applying strong software engineering principles to complex data problems.

About the role

In this high-impact role, you will work collaboratively with other teams to design and build scalable, secure, and intuitive data platforms and applications that are used by every line of business at Zillow.

As a member of this team, you will:

• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, data scientists and analysts on their endeavor to build, transform, and derive value from high quality datasets.
• Build self-service tools and platforms that strive to tackle the challenges faced by both data producers and consumers.
• Contribute to common infrastructure that power these tools.
• Research and pioneer the adoption of new technologies within Zillow.

In Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada and New York City the standard base pay range for this role is $129,400.00 - $206,600.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada and New York City and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. "Remote" employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice which must be identified to the Company. Employees may live in any of the 50 US States, with limited exceptions. In certain cases, an employee in a remote-designated job may need to live in a specific region or time zone to support customers or clients as part of their role.

In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York City and Washington the standard base pay range for this role is $132,400.00 - $211,600.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York City and Washington and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

• 3+ years of experience Software development experience with high proficiency in Python, Java, Scala or another language
• You have strong opinions about what makes a tool, API, or platform phenomenal and love using your creativity to make them even better!
• Experience with containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with Analytical tools like Tableau, Superset, Mode Analytics
• Must have SQL knowledge
• Must have thorough knowledge of data structures and algorithms
• Must have prior experience working with customers to understand and capture requirements.
• Experience building highly scalable and reliable data pipelines using technologies like Spark, Hive, Trino/Presto, Airflow, Kafka, Flink.
• (Plus) Familiarity with streaming technologies like Flink and Kafka.
• (Plus) Experience with Data Modeling.
• (Plus) Dev ops experience with production systems.
