Who You Are:

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer In Test (SDET) to work within an Agile environment on our Core team to develop and execute exploratory and automated web and Android mobile app tests to ensure product quality.

The SDET position is a hands-on, highly technical role with responsibilities including designing and implementing tests, debugging and defining corrective actions. You will also review system requirements and track quality assurance metrics (e.g. defect densities and open defect counts.) The SDET role plays an important part in our company’s product development process. Our ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough validations before product launches to ensure the end-to-end software components run smoothly and meets client needs, while being cost-effective. While the primary responsibilities of this role are to help write automation to accelerate the validation of our products, we admit we still have gaps which require a level of manual testing. Unique to this role, roughly 5% of your time would be spent testing in the Platform Science semi-truck. We are seeking candidates located in San Diego county; the rest of your work can be done remotely.

What We're Looking For:

These are the desired skills for our team (it’s okay if you don’t have them all; apply anyways!)

• 5+ years experience writing test automation code (Python and/or Javascript)
• Testing web applications (both frontends and APIs)
• Testing Android mobile applications
• Experience using Git and tools like BitBucket or Github
• Writing end-to-end tests across platforms
• Conducting load and performance testing
• Automation first testing mindset
• Querying MySQL and/or Postgres DBs
• Reviewing requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Good technical foundation with ability to pick up new skills and adapt quickly
• An ability to think up new ways to break our applications
• A commitment to software craftsmanship and things like code review, design patterns, etc
• Quality as a culture mentality; experience shifting testing left
