Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

About your team:

The brokerage group Tools Engineering team is focused on engineering in-house software that allows any End User (Devs, Ops, Traders, QA) to simulate/mock trading system inputs and outputs, which provides the ability to conduct functional, integration and stress testing. The software simulates exchange behaviors in a very controlled fashion, allowing end users to create automated end-to-end test cases in a very simple scripting language. The team also creates continuous integration workflows that expedite quality software releases to production.

What will be your responsibilities within IBKR: 

• Work closely with the Development & Quality Engineering team to manage the existing automation framework, which enables any user to start a virtualized end-to-end environment in a matter of seconds.
• Design and implement an automation framework for end users to write integrated automated test cases with data-driven concepts.
• The person should have extensive knowledge and experience designing test frameworks for trading platforms and enjoy a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• The successful individual should be able to navigate and perform well under pressure, along with excellent communication and organization skills.
• You will be part of the engineering department responsible for designing, implementing and continuously evolving real-time trading, compliance and risk systems.
• The engineering team is part of the IBKR Brokerage technology group to design, implement and continuously evolve the brokerage business.

Which skills are required:

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science or related degree.
• 7+ years of experience in Python and the Financial Industry.
• Strong domain knowledge and experience with front-office trading applications.
• Thorough understanding of Order Management Systems, Execution Management Systems, Market Connectivity, Market Data
• SME in building Efficient and Scalable Automation Frameworks using Pytest
• Experience in working with LINUX
• Experience building Continuous Integration pipeline
• Self-driven, self-motivated and Problem solver
• Working knowledge of GIT

To be successful in this position, you will have the following:

• Regulatory and compliance experience is a plus
• Understanding and development experience in Docker
• Virtualization/Containerization
• Jenkins
