About the Software Development Engineer
HPE Pointnext Services Systems & Enablement is currently seeking highly qualified and motivated candidates for a Software Development Engineer to be located in Houston, TX. No relocation assistance available.
You will be responsible for the design, development and debug of software programs and components for enabling Support Automation for HPE products to deliver extraordinary outcomes.

Responsibilities
As a Software Development Engineer in HPE Pointnext R&D, you will:

• Enable Support Automation for new products through coding and program enhancements, updates, and changes for portions and subsystems of systems software
• Execute established test plans and protocols for assigned portions of code; identifies, logs, and debugs assigned issues
• Develop an understanding of and relationship with internal and outsourced development partners on software systems design and development
• Participate as a member of an agile team of other software systems engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost-effective and high quality solutions for low to moderately-complex products
• Work as a member of a Kanban team to deliver on the product backlog
• Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced staff members when needed
• Perform other duties as needed or assigned

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent), or compensating experience (see below); degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other relevant technical discipline strongly preferred
• 4+ years' experience in software development, hardware development, product knowledge, management systems, and/or management protocols ideal
• Without a Bachelor's or higher level degree, an additional 2 years' relevant experience for a total 6+ years

Knowledge and Skills Required

• Recent experience working with customers in field service delivery a plus
• Experience or understanding of software systems design tools and languages
• Understanding of Agile software development methodologies
• Good analytic and problem solving skills
• Understanding of design for software systems running on multiple platform types
• Understanding of basic testing, coding, and debugging procedures
• Good written and verbal communication skills
