Software Development Engineer V - Marketplaces Personalization (Remote)

ID.me is looking for a Software Development Engineer V with a background in personalization to join our Marketplaces team. In this role, you will lead building our next-generation recommendation models, data pipelines, and features to drive unique and personalized member experience for the 100 million+ ID.me members across all of our Marketplace products. You will work closely with cross functional teams, including product, data, operations, and senior leadership to achieve your goals.

Marketplaces is one of the fastest growing domains at ID.me, and this role will have the opportunity to build personalization systems and features at scale that drive the future experience for the 100 million+ ID.me members on ID.me Shop, ID.me Homepage, ID.me Rx, and other emerging verticals. We’ll be leveraging this foundational work immediately to drive incremental improvement to our applications as we build out additional capabilities and systems, so the ability to balance short term benefits without compromising long term design are crucial to success in this position.

• Design and develop content recommendation algorithms to personalize ID.me member experience across website, apps and emails
• Run quick A|B tests based on data driven hypotheses
• Deliver impactful results within days/weeks vs months with a high bias for action
• Code and deploy models independently and build scalable services to enable delivery to ID.me applications
• Act as a tech lead to drive high level discussions around architecture and design for our personalization and ML capabilities
• Build, maintain, and integrate with web applications, services, and APIs
• Collaborate with team members, product managers, and stakeholders to solve the right problems and build the best solutions for customer needs
• Exert significant influence on the overall vision and long-term goals of the team by participating in roadmap planning with engineering and product leadership
• Act as a mentor to junior and mid level developers through code reviews and document critiques, and lead cross team knowledge sharing forums

The qualifications below are ideal, but not all are required.  We encourage candidates to apply if they satisfy some, but not all of the qualifications.

• 8+ years developing web applications using Java, Ruby, Javascript, Go, Python, or C++
• 5+ years of machine learning (ML) experience, including designing ML systems and modeling
• Previous experience in Machine Learning based personalization for B2C products
• Ownership of a unit composed of 2 or more pieces (system, framework, or critical library)
• Deep understanding of web technologies, object oriented design, REST based APIs, and Git
• Mastery of relational databases such as PostgresSQL, MySQL or MSSQL Server, or similar databases
• Strong understanding of A|B testing strategies and ability to interpret results
• Ability to create technical plans for, obtain alignment on, and drive implementation of large scale features
• Must have strong leadership and mentorship abilities with exceptional oral and written communication skills, and a self-managing work ethic
• BS in a quantitative or scientific field such as computer science, computer engineering or equivalent experience
• Nice to have qualifications:
• Startup experience
• Experience building systems and services in a containerized, cloud based, infrastructure as code driven ecosystem
• Experience working with Ruby on Rails
• Must be located in the continental U.S. and work core EST or CST hours

ID.me Covid Vaccination Requirement
