About the Work

We are looking for a Software Development intern to join our team. This role will develop and extend the scope of our current software capability to meet the requirements of our engineering applications, under the direction of our team members. The work is expected to be (but not limited to)

• To familiarise themselves with our current in-house software.
• To implement current desktop functionalities on Web/Cloud app.
• To rationalise code to maximise reusability and minimise duplication.
• To test and verify that the code implementations are working correctly.
• To identify and fix bugs in the software.

Requirements

• Under-graduate and post-graduate degrees in Computer Science.
• Good Java programming skills.
• Experience in the development of Web and Cloud applications.
• Familiar with the use of Git for version control.
• Python programming skills will be desirable.
• Good communication skills.
• Good, adaptable team worker, eager to learn and develop.
• Ability and confidence to work independently.
• Existing permit to work in UK.

Miscellaneous

• Starting date: February 2025
• Duration: Up to 12 months
• Location: Work will be based at GE Vernova, Rugby, Warwickshire. CV21 1BD (remote working will be an option).
• Working hours: 37.5 hours per week
• Holiday: 2 days per month + bank holidays
• Payment: Based on GE Vernova internship salary scale
