Software Development Manager I, Network Engineering

Software Development Manager I, Network Engineering (Raleigh, NC) Duties: Manage and supervise a team of Software Developers, Senior Software Developers and Kafta Administrators who work on advanced streaming, machine learning and Kafka infrastructure spanning multiple clusters in several data centers. Oversee and manage team on the design of applications run on the Openshift Platform using Docker, Kubernetes, Java and Spring Boot and Ansible. Maintain and upgrade clusters as well as ensuring optimal performance and uptime SLAs. As a Kafka expert, responsible for architecting and designing upgrades for the infrastructure that help with scaling it as well as incorporating new features, including coordinating and planning cross team/organization. Work with members of several internal teams who consume data from Kafka and provide consultation on implementation and best practices. Work closely vendors and user groups for Kafka and attend conferences. Participate in code reviews. Organize team buildings, having regular 1:1s with my team members including performance reviews, discussing goals and career growth. Involved in recruitment process for hiring new members for the team.

Required: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field of study plus 3 years of experience in the job offered, as Solutions Engineer, or related software development position.

Must have 3 years of experience with:

• Software development in Java or similar object-oriented languages.
• Ansible or similar scripting.
• Architecting software solutions.
• Architecting and administering large Confluent Kafka infrastructure.
• Streaming applications and streaming analytics.
• Telecommunications, including terminology and key data, as well as records generated by SBCs, proxies, and elsewhere within the telco networks.

Must have 2 years of experience with:

• Software development using Sprint Boot.
• Docker and Kubernetes.
• Leading development or infrastructure teams.
