About the Machine Learning Platform Team

Machine Learning Platform is part of the Platform Engineering team at Wealthsimple and is responsible for:

1. Providing a simple and reliable platform for model development model training prediction serving and experimentation for both traditional ML models alongside GenAI applications

2. Abstract the engineering complexities involved in productionizing ML/AI to allow model developers to focus on building delightful applications.

About the Role

As a Software Development Manager on the Machine Learning Platform team you will partner with cross functional stakeholders across data science infrastructure and risk engineering. As a hands-on Leader you’ll be driving innovations of our Machine Learning platform and maintaining fundamental Wealthsimple platforms that support Wealthsimple Developers your clients . As the team grows you’ll lead and develop a small yet high performing team of software engineers exploring the possibilities and pushing the boundaries of our various AI/ML models in production.

As a Software Development Manager - Machine Learning you will:

• Create refine and deliver on a roadmap for the team aligning it with the company’s strategic AI/ML goals

• Ensure the scalability and reliability of the platform infrastructure and tools that support our teams

• Grow lead and coach a team of ML Engineers fostering a culture of innovation collaboration and technical expertise

• Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies in ML Ops and Generative AI and assess their viability for adoption within the platform

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their needs and challenges and to integrate these insights into platform enhancements

What you bring:

• Strong knowledge and execution of building and scaling ML Platforms or similar technologies

• An extensive background in ML-ops Software Engineering or equivalent

• Experience growing leading and developing software engineering teams

• An ability to adapt and ship meaningful work in a fast-paced environment

• A collaborative and open approach to communication: you are experienced in delivering clear concise and solution-focused messages that are easily understood by a cross-discipline team
