Software DevOps Engineer Intern

Minitab is looking for a high performing DevOps Engineer Intern. 

POSITION SUMMARY

Contribute as a member of a cross-functional DevOps engineering team.  Assist in the automation, management and deployment of desktop and cloud-based Minitab application development processes

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Help support the development and deployment of Minitab cloud and desktop applications.
• Troubleshoot and monitor cloud resource health.
• Assist with the containerization of build and deployment processes.
• Write and maintain documentation for solutions developed during the internship.
• Collaborate with development teams using an agile software development process.
• Support completion of simple to moderately complex tasks and features on project team backlog with supervision from technical lead and project manager.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Gain a level of domain knowledge of one of Minitab’s software products and cloud infrastructure that enables you to function effectively with development teams.
• Learn new technologies, frameworks, API’s and scripting languages as appropriate for project work that is assigned to you.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE

• Current student pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, IT, or a related discipline or equivalent experience.
• Prefer Junior or Senior class standing
• 0+ years of software development or information technology experience.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, MacOS, and/or Linux.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Ability to collaborate and work well in a team of skilled software professionals.
• Ability to learn new technologies and apply those technologies to Minitab with appropriate supervision.
• Ability to solve basic technical problems with minimal supervision.
• Desire to continuously improve your software skill set.
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the English language.

The following skills are also desirable:

• Working knowledge of a scripting language such as Powershell, Bash, or Python.
• Working knowledge of Visual Studio development environment.
• Experience with programming languages such as C++ or C#.
• Experience researching and debugging technical problems or issues.

• Experience with software deployment technologies and practices.
• Experience with source control systems such as Git or Team Foundation Server.
