Software Engineer

We are seeking an early career engineer for a new product line that is in early-stage, digital growth, to help empower consumers to improve their financial health. As a software engineer, you'll be working hand-in-hand with other engineers, product managers, and designers to design and deliver our new lead generation platform. Our product managers help determine the biggest opportunities we have to improve our customer's experience, and our engineers create and implement solutions to those problems. As a financial company, data security and integrity are top of mind, so you'll also help ensure our customer's data is safe by using secure coding practices and tooling that automates those checks for us.

• Contribute to decisions for greenfield and existing projects that will drive the business for the next 3-5 years
• Design and build our consumer-facing web platform and lead gen API using Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, and AWS
• Participate in technical conversations with other engineers and help steer decisions in the right direction
• Offer constructive and respectful feedback via code reviews
• Research and promote design patterns and practices that fit our technical challenges
• Write automated unit and integration tests as well as build tools to assist in testing various aspects of our platform
• Create business and technical metrics alongside features you build to data-driven decisions for our organization
• Work with our DevOps team to ensure our CI/CD pipeline, built with CircleCI, Jenkins, and AWS tooling fits our growing needs.
• Receive a personalized development program and sponsorship from your manager.
• Add features and make fixes with some initial guidance
• Provides transparency into progress
• Work with stakeholders to fully understand requirements
• Deliver high quality features with test coverage according to requirements
• Work with senior engineers to determine best solutions to problems
• Work with senior engineers to determine performance metrics in production
• Decompose features for day-to-day work
• Troubleshoot issues in code they’re familiar with, with some guidance
• Create post-release checks for all stories

• Honest, collaborative, and curious mindset
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Ruby, Ruby on Rails, and Postgresql
• Reasonable familiarity with HTML, CSS, and Javascript
• Experience building customer facing pages and/or API endpoints
