The Role

The Solutions Engineering team at SUSE empowers customers to run their business in the cloud. We’re looking for an engineer who wants to join us in delivering creative Cloud solutions, building and maintaining the tools that connect our products to the cloud, and aiding our customers in the transition from on-prem to hybrid to cloud. What you’ll do

• Collaborate with other engineers and architects to implement features, fix bugs, optimize performance, and design new solutions for SUSE’s products in the cloud and related services

• Participate in technical design and code review processes

• Contribute to existing documentation and/or educational content based on product requirements and user feedback 

• Contribute to maintaining a positive, healthy and inclusive learning culture

What you’ll bring

• Experience developing applications using one or more general programming languages (e.g. Python, Go) utilizing git-based source control management tools

• Familiarity with Cloud Computing (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure)

• Experience developing software using Linux-based operating systems (e.g. openSUSE) 

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a remote team

• A strong sense of ownership, accountability, transparency, and drive

• At least two years of experience developing software.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Bonus Points

• Experience with Infrastructure-as-code technologies (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible)

• Expertise with cloud native concepts and container technology

• Experience working and contributing to open-source communities

• Familiarity with packaging rpms
