KBR is seeking a Software Engineer to perform various software programming and data management for the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) at Kirtland Airforce Base. The software engineer will perform multiple software R&D and infrastructure upgrade projects to assist DTRA in maintaining the required cutting-edge instrumentation technology in support of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and High Explosive (CBRNE) testing. This position will be categorized as a test engineer and will also assist with fielding instrumentation for CBRNE testing. The engineer will receive initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from management or lead engineer as needed. The candidate must be able to perform recurring work independently. Work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions.
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 20

This position requires DoD SECRET Security Clearance must have the ability to obtain and possess this clearance
**Up to 25% travel possible**

Typical duties include:
- Designs and develops moderately complex test programs, processes, and systems to measure the functionality and integrity of products and services.
- May design and build moderately complex test stations to include software development.
- Writes moderately complex test procedures and protocols to assess product reliability and evaluates the ability of products to meet performance standards and specifications.
- Through software development, gather test data and evaluate the results of tests to determine if product designs and architecture meets customer specifications and performance expectations.
- Develops moderately complex test simulations to evaluate how products react under different conditions and analyzes product failure to assess the integrity and reliability of product performance.
- Debugs moderately complex test hardware and software.
- Analyzes test cases and scenarios and reports results.
- Collaborates with other engineering groups to improve or upgrade product performance.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent experience.
- 0-2 years of applicable related experience
- Experience with software languages C# and Python
- Ability to acquire a minimum of Secret DoD clearance
- Strong communications skills
- PowerPoint slide development and presentation skills
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
- Software development or engineering experience tied in with hardware application
- Knowledge in CBRNE instrumentation technology and methodologies
- Knowledge or experience with any of the following: MATLAB, SQL, HTML5, JavaScript, BASH, PowerShell, CMD, WinForms, WPF, and MVVM
- Knowledge of networking concepts and experience with network hardware
- Familiarity with Electrical Engineering concepts, ideally RF communications, Signal Processing, and Computer Architecture
