Software Engineer 2

Location Requirements: This role is Hybrid to one of our offices: Austin, Naperville or Wayne.

We are seeking a Software Engineer 2 to participate and lead the agile development scrum team designing, building, testing, deploying, and supporting elegant, scalable and reliable Platform Applications for our customers both internal and external. This is a fast-paced and exciting role that provides opportunities to work on a wide array of applications and platform.

This role reports to the Engineering Manager and works closely with Development, Architecture, Product, Customer Success, SassIO and Strategic Partners to deliver solutions that simplify the daily work life of the front line of education.

Responsibilities

• Understanding of Interface Driven Development and when and how to effectively use it
• Demonstrate the ability to acquire new skills and techniques and apply them within assigned engineering tasks
• Perform analysis and troubleshooting of moderately complex software constructs
• Demonstrate application of coding standard practices and procedures as defined by the team and technology organization
• Assist and participate in research, design, and development of moderately complex software components
• Construct unit tests over moderately complex algorithms to ensure a high degree of quality in code
• Receive direction and coaching from more experienced engineers and assist less experienced engineers
• Collaborate with other engineers on the team and across the technology organization to facilitate innovation and provide an environment of continuous learning and improvement
• Participate in reviewing and providing feedback on moderately complex code algorithms within the team
• Author non-complex technical documentation
• Provide High Level Estimates at a ticket level
• Manage time effectively and deliver on commitments that are made
• Strive to deliver high-quality work as opposed to just "completing the task"- Significant contributor to the team sprint commitment
• Engage and contribute to team discussions

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree inComputer Science or related field
• 4+ years' experience in the following is required:
  • Software Development Microservice using NodeJS
  • Agile methodology
  • PostgreSQL
  • JavaScriptFramework (Node, React)
  • CI-CD Pipelines (Codefresh or other docker based)
  • ORM Tools (TypeORM.)
  • Container Platforms (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience in the following is preferred:
  • AWS Neptune, Gremlin Query Language
  • Kong Gateway and Mesh
  • AWS Services, Apache Kafka, Redis
  • Confluence, Jira, GitHub, Office365, Slack, Zoom
