Job Description Summary:

PayPal, Inc. seeks Software Engineer 3 in Scottsdale, AZ, to Build, enhance, recommend new tools and tools improvements for better site monitoring, site management, and quick resolution. Develop and maintain standard operating procedure (SOP) documentation for use by all of PayPal operations interacting with the live site. Drive architecture discussions, produce well-documented design docs, and participate in design and code reviews. Ensure code quality and maintainability by evolving architecture and tech stack, refactoring, standards, and improving build and test systems. Estimate engineering efforts, plan execution cycles, and rollout system changes. Develop innovative product solutions that meet market needs concerning functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to development goals and principles. Triage Infra systems and application issues for both pre and post-impact assessments that are detected in the PayPal Command Center by various monitoring systems. Assess system service impacts, create recovery plans, flex-ups, flex-downs and provide step execution approval for backline teams during critical incident restoration activities. Work independently and within a team to analyze and remediate production systems and application incidents. Develop self-remediation automated tools to protect production and engineering infra services with code. Engage with engineering partners and enable them to build the right tools for the site. Work closely with business leads in PayPal's Command Center team in investigating the reason for the outage of the event and work towards mitigating / resolution of hypervisors, physical and virtual infra assets, and infra services. Work in partnership with the Lead SRE to ensure incident details are documented according to the critical incident process. Identify recurring problems and work with problem management and other stakeholders to drive permanent solutions.

Job Description:

Minimum Requirements: Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Biotechnology, Engineering or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Biotechnology, Engineering or a closely related field plus five years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
