Software Engineer

We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join Snap Inc. in NYC. In this role you will work across all disciplines on product incubations, prototypes, and new lines of business, helping the team execute on new ventures for Snap. You’ll work closely with designers, PM’s, other engineers, and customers to develop products that further empower people to express themselves, live in the moment, learn about the world, and have fun together.

What you’ll do:

• Create and refine high performance apps that push the limits of web and mobile technology
• Build fun, new products that are very stable and run smoothly across a variety of devices and network conditions
• Design, architect and implement well-tested frontend and backend software which powers experiences at the cutting edge of UX and virtual experiences
• Conceptualize, develop, and launch new features
• Carefully evaluate the technical tradeoffs of every decision
• Work with designers to hone in on the best UI and infrastructure practices
• Carry out code reviews to guarantee code quality

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Proficiency with various forms of asynchronous programming and performance optimization techniques
• Strong computer science fundamentals (algorithms and data structures) and problem-solving skills
• Strong sense of product and UX with a eye for minute details
• Knowledge of software design patterns across web, mobile, and backend systems

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s in a technical field such a computer science or equivalent years of experience
• 7+ years of software development experience
• Experience building, launching, improving, and maintaining mobile, web, backend, and infrastructure systems
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Typescript
• Experience with Objective-C and iOS
• Experience optimizing browser performance and browser layout rendering
• Experience building and running large-scale microservices and distributed systems
• Experience with OpenGL/WebGL
